Environmental problems related to economic and social development are being taken for some decades more and more into account. The current production system has led to a critical situation which is not easy to leave, putting even more of our efforts.

So far the solutions have come from the hand of technological change, more stringent regulatory sanctions, to establish tax or subsidy polluter who develop products “green” or environmentally friendly. All these measures have had mixed success, the fact is that the planet’s environmental situation is getting worse and increasingly irreversible.

Taking into account this should analyze the relationship between the environment and the system of capitalist production, thinking because so far as economy and ecology are conflicting issues. For us the key solution to environmental problems is environmental education at all levels and sectors of society (productive or not).

Indeed we believe that the main outlet (not only, as this must be accompanied by other measures to cut economic, political, technological, etc.). Comes from the hand of education, in this case of environmental education. This is a fundamental tool to achieve a change in attitude and behavior in society, not only producers but also consumers all over the world.

In nature, things just are. They are traversed by criteria or value judgments or moral, socially constructed elements as a tool of subjugation and domination of the supra-species towards conspecifics. This is easily demonstrated, since according to evolutionary theory and accept that the earth has an approximate age of 4,500 million years, nature has built its own cycles without human presence that emerges only in the last two million years.

In nature has not yet been able to verify that elephants do transcendental meditation, or that monkeys attend mass on Sundays. Likewise, the lion king’s monarchical status is another maneuver by the ruling class to further lead to magical thinking and natural, the need for a hierarchical system or class, which justifies the presence of drivers and messianic saviors for the human herd. Walt Disney’s work in this regard, it has operated effectively through his work in the minds of children.

I found a very interesting list of measures to mitigate the effect of global warming. The list has been proposed by a member of CSIC. What I like is that they are simple to implement and very practical:

Shipping. Reduce individual and collective means to promote.
Domestic energy. Reduce your expenses with electrical energy label or turning off appliances completely (not standby mode).

Waste. Encourage the separation of garbage and recycling.
Materials. Reused whenever possible (paper, toys, tools, furniture …) and avoid using bags, boxes and packaging.
Water. Reduce their consumption by placing, for example, bottles in the tanks.
Irrigation. Minimize the risk of promoting gardens and drip system.
Urbanise. Just knowing where to be water enough in the long term. In many cases where licensing is no water.
Nature. Respect the protected areas and minimize the impact on natural areas.
Casas. Constructed with good thermal insulating materials to investing in heating and air conditioning is less

Slits. Improve insulation in windows and doors because between 5% and 10% of household heat escapes through them.
Photovoltaic solar panels connected to the mains.
Alternative energy. Give more value and be willing to finance them. If all the support, will be profitable, even more expensive.
Taxes. Allow the allocation of resources for conservation.
Floor. Minimize changes in land use and, in general, the artificial soil.
Impact. Giving more importance to the analysis of environmental impacts and consider alternatives expensive but environmentally friendly
Species. Not transferred outside their place of origin.
Invaders. Do not hold pets and pets. Can be invasive species.
Chemicals. Minimize use of chemical compounds such as antibiotics, fertilizers … and aerosols.
Educating children in the value of goods we offer ecosystems.
Governments. Require long-term sustainable management of natural resources.

Let’s see if we all improve the world in which we live.
